We are excited to have re-launched our London Futures programme, an award-winning employability programme that engages with young Londoners aged 18 – 30 with a disability.
The programme helps to transition young people into work, education or training opportunities through sport and personalised career development.
Currently we are working with 40 young adults in our London Futures hubs based from our Cricket Centre headquarters and Stormont House School in Hackney.
We have developed a lasting relationship with Stormont House School over the last few years and we are incredibly of the work we have achieved together.
As part of the programme, we are building an inclusive employers network where our Coach Mentors will use their own lived experience to deliver inclusive employers workshops around the practicalities of employing someone with a disability.
We will also ask our employers network to support us young people from London Futures by offering them work placement opportunities that allow them to gain skills, knowledge, and experience through work experience placements.
We are very excited to now be working with TDR Capital who are co-funding this programme alongside the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. They will also be supporting the programme by providing work placement opportunities with their personal company network. This includes corporations such as Asda, David Lloyd and the Stonegate Group.
Ryan Jones, our Disability Programmes Manager shared: “Programmes such as London Futures are so important for young adults with a disability, as it provides not only an opportunity to play sport but also an opportunity to meet new people, gain new friendships and to develop skills that help a young person reach their full potential”.
