February has been a fantastic month for the boxing at The Change Foundation. Our Boxing for Change pilot has been a huge success and we have been busy using the learning to develop a new programme, 12 Rounds, our new anti-knife crime initiative using boxing in schools and the community to reduce the number of young people carrying knives. We held a packed house fundraiser to launch the programme and raise vital funds.
On Thursday 13 February, 220 guests convened at the Leonardo London City Hotel for a night of elite boxing hosted by non-other than our own Alex Bassan, in order to raise money for the programme. The guests really enjoyed watching some top-class boxing, topped off by former WBC light-heavyweight champion John Conteh handing out the trophies. It was all put together by our wonderful partners at Limehouse Boxing Academy, along with TCF’s own Si Ledwith. Lots of hard work went into making the evening a success with special thanks to supports and ambassadors of the charity Sean Ellis, Glenn Ballard and Mike Tovey.
We have lots of exciting news coming soon about 12 Rounds, so stay tuned, and if you have any specific questions please get in touch with Navjeet Sira.
