On the 18th September 2020, our CEO, Andy Sellins and our Head of Business Development, Alex Bassan, along with a group of fourteen extraordinary supporters, completed a 22-mile Thames Kayak Challenge, from Deptford in East London to Twickenham in West London, to raise money for our Visually Inspired Rugby Programme.
The event did not come without its own challenges however, with Hammersmith Bridge being shut they had to adapt to ensure a smooth sailing for everyone participating. By transferring into four Skerry boats, they were able to row the final 7-miles without any further hiccups. After six hours on the river they reached Twickenham bruised and blistered, but they all felt it was well worth it as they shared a cold beer at the finishing line, the White Hart pub.
This challenge would not have been completed without help from the following brilliant supporters:
- David Morris
• Mark Soley
• Nick Brown
• Pete Harrison
• Christian Heap
• Yuri Jurgens
• Andy Howells
• Gian Franco Cencelli
• Alex Porteous
• Ollie Porteous
• JP Wilmer
• Ben Hewetson
• Dave Hanley
A special thank you to Paul Buckley and the London Kayak Company for organising the challenge and to all of you who sponsored our kayakers. If you would like to participate in or learn more about our upcoming charity challenges, please contact alexbassan@changefdn.org.uk
