Fencing 4 Change Competition

On Thursday the 2nd of May we hosted our first ever annual Fencing 4 Change competition at Leon Paul Fencing Centre.

The competition was an opportunity for the young people to use all of the skills that they have developed since the start of the programme to put them into practice in a competition setting.

Daniel Mynott our Impact and Insight Manager and the programme manager for Fencing 4 Change said. “It was amazing to get all of these young people to this competition, they have all come so far during the programme and developed so many skills and to take it to a new environment is a big deal for them. It was a great end to our first year of Fencing 4 Change and a massive well done to all the young people involved.”

One of the young people had the following to share. “It was really cool to come to this place I never thought I would get to go to somewhere like this to fence.”

The competition was a great success with 18 young people attending with 8 volunteers from Berkeley Group Plc and 1 from Zurich UK. We would like to thank them for their support on the day and to thank British Fencing for their support as well and for being a very important part of making this day so fantastic for the young people.

Also, a thank you to our funders City Bridge Foundation and St. James’s Place for allowing us to do this amazing work!
