Goal Setting with Girls Win
In February, all of our Girls Win clubs took part in short-term goal setting workshops. This is the first stage in empowering young women with a disability to think more positively about their future. Goal setting is a huge part of the Girls Win programme, developing prospects for the future from short, through medium, and to long-term goals. With support from some volunteers from our sponsors Investec, in this early stage the young women set achievable goals for the next day, the next week and 2 weeks’ time. The workshops were a great introduction to goal setting for the groups and the Investec volunteers added great value and experience. Bring on the next set of workshops in April.
In addition to this, the Girls Win group in Sutton took part in an evening of filming with Parasport. Parasport is an inclusive activity finder website launched by Paralympics GB. Their ambition is to create the UK’s biggest fun and vibrant community for players, parents and coaches to share their experiences of para sport, and find useful hints, tips and information on what’s happening near you. This includes in depth listings and all the information you need to connect to local inclusive opportunities. They awarded Girls Win, club of the month and have released the video and an editorial on Girls Win for the month of February. The young women who attended on the night so were so happy and excited. They were very confident and positive towards the Parasport team and did themselves proud! Check out the film here.
