A few years ago, we had the pleasure of meeting John Ryan of A&J Ryan Mechanical Services. Having initially been introduced at one of our charity events, John made the selfless decision to sponsor himself and join our coaches on a trip to Mumbai, India.
The project delivered training to sports coaches and mentors from ‘The Magic Bus Foundation’ who work with vulnerable, disabled and marginalised young people across India.
John joined our coaches in delivering adaptive sports activities to disabled young people throughout the trip. With his dedicated support, our coaches were able to successfully train a cohort of ‘Magic Bus coaches’ that continue to use their training today.
Initially, John wasn’t certain about what the trip would have in store for him.
He shared: “I did not really know what this (the coaching) entailed so I was a bit apprehensive, but WOW what an amazing experience.’
“I was absolutely bowled over by the amazing work they (our coaches) did out there.”
The success of the project has seen more disabled young people experience the many benefits that adaptive sports can offer. Having seen the transformational effect of these benefits himself, John made the decision to partner his business with our charity after he returned home.
This pillar of support that A&J Mechanical Services provides to our charity has seen programmes such as Street Elite and Visually Impaired Rugby transform the lives of people across the UK.
John shared: “The Change Foundation is an amazing charity, full of totally dedicated staff, and one that I thought our company should be proud to support going forward.”
We thank John and all the team at A&J Ryan for their continuous support and look forward to working together in the future to change more young lives through the power of sport.
